A Couple's Spa Day in Hoi An: Which Treatment to Book, and in What Order

The deciding guide to a couple spa in Hội An — what each of the nine treatments is for, what it costs per person, which two things are genuinely priced for two, and the order that turns them into an afternoon.

Two people, one room, two tables: the hard part of a couple spa in Hội An is not finding one. It is deciding what to book. Our menu runs to nine massages, two shared soaks and five packages, and most couples end up choosing at reception with the afternoon already half gone. This page decides it for you — what each treatment is for, what it costs per person, which two things are actually cheaper because there are two of you, and the order that turns a list of bookings into an afternoon. For what happens once the door closes, and three afternoons costed to a total, see our couples massage guide.

We are a riverside hotel and spa on the south bank of the Thu Bồn at Cẩm Nam, so this is written hotel-side, from our own menu rather than from the market. Every figure below is the published per-person price on that menu, read from it on 1 September 2026. None of it is a range or an estimate, and when a price changes this page changes with it.

Which treatment should the two of you choose?

You do not have to pick the same thing, and plenty of couples do not — one takes the hot stone, the other the foot reflexology, and you still start and finish together. What separates the nine options is pressure, warmth, and what the treatment is actually trying to do. Prices are per person, so a couple doubles them.

Treatment (per person)60 min90 minBook it if
Relaxing full-body massage with oil450,000₫600,000₫It is your first massage together, or you want the gentle default. Most couples choose this.
Foot massage450,000₫600,000₫You have walked the Old Town all day. You stay dressed and can talk the whole way through.
Special treatment for back, neck and shoulder490,000₫660,000₫One specific place hurts — long flights, laptops, a week on a motorbike.
Vietnamese herbal (thuốc nam) full-body massage520,000₫700,000₫You want the treatment that belongs to this country rather than a generic oil massage.
Himalaya hot-stone full-body massage520,000₫700,000₫You feel the cold, or you would rather heat did the work than pressure.
Special foot reflexology520,000₫700,000₫The foot massage taken seriously — pressure-point work rather than a rub.
Pregnancy full-body treatment520,000₫700,000₫One of you is expecting. Side-lying and bolstered, so you can still book as a couple.
Thai traditional massage (with or without oil)570,000₫770,000₫You like being stretched and want to get up loosened rather than sleepy.
Vietnam Impression bamboo massage570,000₫770,000₫You want firm. Smooth bamboo worked along the muscle instead of hands.

Two practical rules. First, agree on the same length — sixty or ninety — so you finish together; that is half the point of booking as a couple. Second, if you cannot decide, the 450,000₫ relaxing oil massage is the right answer more often than not: it is the gentlest, it suits people who do not have massages often, and nobody regrets starting there. Beyond the nine above the menu also carries a 90-minute special foot treatment at 650,000₫, facials at 450,000₫ for 45 minutes or 600,000₫ for 60, body scrubs from 550,000₫ to 650,000₫ for 60 minutes, and manicures and pedicures from 300,000₫.

If you would rather not assemble anything, five packages bundle the steps into one per-person price. Package 3, "A Simple Full Body Relaxation", is 820,000₫ for 1 hour 45 and is the one we point most couples at; Package 1, "Full Recovery", is 1,350,000₫ for 2 hours 45; Package 4, "To Looking Your Best", is 1,440,000₫ for 3 hours; Package 2, "Full Body Cleanse", is 1,500,000₫ for 3 hours; and the Nghê Special is 1,890,000₫ for four hours. What each contains differs by tier, so ask the spa for the current line-up rather than reading it off the name.

The only two things priced for two

Everything in the table above is a per-person treatment that two people happen to take side by side. Only two items on the whole menu genuinely cost less because there are two of you — the private jacuzzi and the xông hơi herbal steam. They are also the two you share rather than receive, which is why they are the ones couples remember afterwards.

The jacuzzi price includes drinks and cut fruit. It is also the one thing on this page that genuinely cannot be arranged on the spot: the water has to be run and the room held for your booking alone, so it needs a day's notice. The steam is quicker to ready and can usually be added to a same-day booking. If you want both, say so when you book and we will hold them in the right order.

In what order should you book them?

Heat first, hands second, rest last. Twenty minutes of steam or half an hour in the jacuzzi before the massage warms the muscle so the therapist is not spending the first fifteen minutes getting you there, and it settles the two of you into the same pace, which side-by-side treatments need more than people expect. Afterwards, protect the half hour at the end as carefully as the treatment itself: ginger tea, no rushing out to a table you booked too early. Assembled in full, with the foot soak at the start and the rest at the end, the afternoon is closer to two and a half hours than to one.

The structure most couples enjoy is a sequence, not a single treatment: a warm herbal foot soak to arrive, a shared steam or soak, a massage side by side as the centre, and a slow half hour to come back. Each stage hands you to the next a little slower than the last.

Why the xông hơi herbal steam is worth adding

The single thing that distinguishes a Hội An couple spa from a generic massage is the Vietnamese herbal tradition that surrounds it. A herbal steam bath — xông hơi — uses lemongrass (sả), ginger, lemon leaves, and a handful of other aromatic plants simmered to release their oils as steam. It is a household remedy across central Vietnam, traditionally used at the turn of the seasons and during recovery, and it pairs naturally with massage: the steam opens the skin and warms the muscle, the massage does its work, and the body comes down gently afterwards.

We have written at length about why these plants matter and what they do for recovery in our guide to the Vietnamese herbal bath with lemongrass and lavender, and about how the wider Vietnamese thuốc nam tradition maps onto the German Heilfasten and Kneipp idea of plant-led recovery in our piece on the Vietnamese wellness retreat parallel. For a couple, the practical version is simple: add a shared herbal steam either side of your massage and the afternoon becomes a ritual rather than an appointment.

The plants are not decorative. Lemongrass, the dominant note, is used across Vietnamese folk medicine as a warming, settling aromatic; ginger and lemon leaves carry the steam deeper. Đỗ Tất Lợi's standard pharmacopeia of Vietnamese medicinal plants, the reference work for thuốc nam, documents lemongrass and ginger among the most widely used household remedies in the country — which is why a herbal bath in Hội An is a living tradition, not a spa invention.

What makes a riverside spa setting different?

Our treatment rooms sit on the south bank of the Thu Bồn at Cẩm Nam and open toward the water, so the light moves through your treatment rather than staying fixed: bright and green over the river at midday, then warming, then the long gold of late afternoon. For a couples treatment that is not a small thing. The single most-requested booking we take is a couples massage timed so the closing half hour lands at sunset.

How private is a couples room, really?

This is the question people ask us first, so here it is plainly. Ours is a genuinely closed room — a door, drapes, and the two of you — with its own semi-outdoor jacuzzi opening off it. You can soak together in warm, bubbling water before the massage to loosen the day, then rinse the herbal oils away under a brass rain shower after. That jacuzzi is held for your booking alone and is never shared. Because it has to be filled and set for the two of you, it needs one day's notice when you book: for two people it is 300,000₫ each for 30 minutes, or 400,000₫ each for 45, drinks and cut fruit included. We've described the full experience on our dedicated couple spa page, and the soak itself on our private-jacuzzi spa page.

One more thing worth saying plainly: you do not have to be staying at the hotel to book it. The couples' room and jacuzzi are open to walk-in visitors, so you're welcome to come into Nghê Prana just for the afternoon — book ahead and the private room and jacuzzi are held for the two of you.

What actually happens, plainly

Couples booking a treatment together often want to know exactly what they are walking into, and that is a fair thing to want to know. So, without euphemism:

  • Underwear stays on for the whole treatment.
  • You stay covered by a towel throughout. The therapist folds it back only over the area being worked on — one leg, or the back — and covers it again before moving on. Chest and groin stay covered at all times.
  • Every treatment is therapeutic. Nghê Prana is a licensed hotel spa. There are no sexual services of any kind, and nothing of the sort will be offered or implied.
  • Prices are per person and published, on the menu and on this page. Nothing is added at the end.

If you would prefer more covering, a lighter pressure, or to skip a particular area entirely, say so at the start — or partway through. No therapist here will mind, and you will not have to explain yourself.

How far ahead should you book?

Book ahead. A couples room means two tables and two therapists held at the same time, so it is the first thing to fill on a busy evening, especially around sunset and on weekends. A day's notice is usually enough in the quieter months; in peak season (roughly February to August, and around Tết and the lantern nights on the eve of each full moon) book two or three days ahead, and name your sunset slot early because there is only one a day.

Hội An's sunsets over the river are genuinely worth planning around — we keep a sunset guide with the times through the year for exactly this reason. If you want the river-gold ending, work backwards: a ninety-minute couples massage that finishes at sunset should start about two hours before the listed sunset time once you allow for the foot soak and the rest at the end. Tell the spa you want to finish at golden hour when you book and a riverside spa will set the start time for you.

How to book the afternoon

Tell us the date, which treatment each of you wants and at which length, whether you want the jacuzzi or the steam, and whether you would like to finish at sunset — and we will hold the room and set the start time around the light. The jacuzzi is the only part that needs the day before. You do not have to be staying with us. The wellness page is the place to start, and if you want the totals worked out before you commit, the couples massage guide costs three complete afternoons for two, arithmetic shown.
