Hidden Beach Hoi An: Exact Location, Directions, Prices and When to Swim (2026)

Hidden Beach (Bãi biển Hidden) is one named beach, not a figure of speech. It is the stretch of sand at the end of Kiệt 62 Lạc Long Quân on the Hội An coast, between An Bàng to the north and Cửa Đại to the south, at 15.9060, 108.3533 on Google Maps. Entry is free. It is 5.5 km from the Japanese Bridge by bicycle and 5.1 km from our riverside hotel on the Thu Bồn, both routed with OSRM on 25 September 2026. We rebuilt this page from the Vietnamese record of the coast (Nhân Dân, Tuổi Trẻ, VnExpress, Báo Quảng Nam) and the live Maps listings, because the beach changed in 2025 and 2026 and most English guides were written before that.

Where exactly is Hidden Beach in Hoi An?

Hidden Beach sits on the single sand coast that runs from Cửa Đại north to An Bàng. VnExpress (12 April 2025) lists the named stretches from south to north as Cửa Đại, Thịnh Mỹ, Tân Thành, An Bàng. Hidden Beach is the pocket between Cửa Đại and Tân Thành, reached by the lane numbered Kiệt 62 off Lạc Long Quân, the coast road. hoiandaytrip.com places it the same way: Tân Thành to the north, Cửa Đại to the south, An Bàng "nearly 2 kilometers" north. hiddenhoian.com (20 June 2019) puts it a five-minute drive north of Cửa Đại and six minutes south of An Bàng. The Google Maps place "”Hidden Beach” Hoi An" sits at 15.9060, 108.3533 with a 4.1 rating from 296 reviews, and the Hidden Beach Restaurant listing is about 60 metres inland of it (both read 25 September 2026). The address changed on 1 July 2025. Cẩm An ward was merged with Thanh Hà, Tân An and Cẩm Hà into the new phường Hội An Tây, part of Đà Nẵng city (Tuổi Trẻ, 26 June 2025), which is why newer listings read "Hội An Tây, Đà Nẵng".

People who search "hidden beach hoi an" can mean three different things with the same name, all on the same lane. One is the beach itself. Another is Hidden Beach Restaurant, the beachfront restaurant whose loungers most visitors use. The third is Hidden Beach Bungalow Sea View, a guesthouse listed at 62 Lạc Long Quân. A villa and a pool-villa property also use the name within 100 metres (Google Maps, 25 September 2026). To navigate, pin the beach or the restaurant; they are a minute's walk apart. The name is older than the crowds. The hand-painted "Hidden Beach" sign that used to mark the turn off Lạc Long Quân is gone (goodmorning-hoian.com, 22 May 2025).

How do you get to Hidden Beach from Hoi An Old Town?

There are two ways in. From the Old Town you can ride east toward the coast on Cửa Đại road and turn left (north) onto Lạc Long Quân. Or you can ride Hai Bà Trưng north to An Bàng, turn right (south) onto Lạc Long Quân and ride about 2 km. Either way you are looking for Kiệt 62, a narrow lane on the sea side of the road. hiddenhoian.com's landmark is the Tamarind (Cây Me) restaurant sign next to it, and the lane runs about three minutes through casuarinas to the sand. Now that the sign is gone, the Maps pin is more reliable than looking for it. Why our times are longer than the guides': most English guides say 10–15 minutes by bicycle or scooter. The routes in the table come from OSRM (routing.openstreetmap.de), run on 25 September 2026 between the Google Maps pins. Its bicycle profile assumes an easy touring pace and gives 22–24 minutes for the 5–5.5 km. Its motorbike and car figure of about 8 minutes assumes no traffic. Allow 20–25 minutes by bicycle and about 15 by motorbike.

From Nghê Prana. Bicycles are included with every room, and the 5.1 km ride to Hidden Beach is flat. Our free guest shuttle runs to An Bàng beach and back, not to Hidden Beach. From An Bàng it is 2.1 km south along Lạc Long Quân: 9 minutes by bicycle, or about 25 minutes on foot at 5 km/h. Reception can tell you the day's shuttle times.

How much does Hidden Beach cost? Parking, loungers and food

There is no ticket and no gate. The beach is public, and hoiandaytrip.com lists it as open 24 hours. You pay for two things: the restaurant's furniture and your parking. At Hidden Beach Restaurant, loungers and umbrellas are free if you order food or a drink, and 50,000₫ a day if you don't. goodmorning-hoian.com (22 May 2025) gives 30,000–50,000₫ across the beach's restaurants. The 50,000₫ figure still appears in Google Maps reviews dated July and August 2026. One July 2026 reviewer was told it covered about four hours, so ask before you settle in. The sources disagree on parking. Bloggers writing in 2018, 2019 and 2025 describe it as free, while hoiandaytrip.com lists 5,000₫ for a bicycle and 5,000–10,000₫ for a motorbike. Both can be right: the restaurants' lots are free if you eat there, and the paid rate applies if you don't.

Food and services are at the end of the lane. Hidden Beach Restaurant is open 8:00 to 22:00 every day (Google Maps listing, read 25 September 2026; goodmorning-hoian.com printed the same hours in May 2025), and customers can use its toilets and showers. goodmorning-hoian.com also lists Wild Beach Restaurant (9:00–21:00), Sun Beach Restaurant (8:00–22:00) and NEO Fisherman's Restaurant (7:00–22:00, dishes 80,000–150,000₫). The menus run from grilled clams, scallops and whole fish to cao lầu, mì Quảng, bánh xèo and bánh mì (La Siesta's guide). Beach massage costs about 150,000–250,000₫ an hour. There are motorised water sports too: in May 2025, a 10-minute jet-ski ride cost 700,000–1,100,000₫ and parasailing 1,200,000₫ (goodmorning-hoian.com).

What is Hidden Beach like in September 2026?

The coast here has moved twice in two years. In March 2025 Dân Việt reported waves cutting scarps 5–7 metres deep into Tân Thành beach, just north of Hidden Beach. On 23 October 2025, after storm No. 12, Tuổi Trẻ reported that more than 100 metres of the Tân Thành shore had been cut back by tens of metres, with soldiers from Military Region 5 filling sandbags through the night. Nguyễn Văn Tú, vice-chairman of Hội An Tây ward, told the paper: "Tới thời điểm này biển xâm thực rất dữ dội ở hai điểm lở gồm biển Tân Thành và khu vực tại bãi biển An Bàng" ("At this point the sea is eroding very violently at two sites, Tân Thành beach and the An Bàng beach area").

The city has answered with a project. On 16 June 2026 Nhân Dân reported that Đà Nẵng would spend more than 498 billion đồng on the Thu Bồn riverbank and the Hội An coast. The plan includes about 1,950 metres of sea defences in three zones: 700 m in Hội An Đông running north from the Victoria hotel, about 550 m in Hội An Tây ending at kiệt 118 Lạc Long Quân, and 700 m from there through Tân Thành to An Bàng. Construction was to finish before 15 September 2026. Hidden Beach, at kiệt 62, is on this Hội An Tây shore. Google Maps reviewers in July and August 2026 describe embankment work beside the beach. One cites a site sign dated 15 September 2026, and another wrote that the beach was "getting smaller by the day". We have not been back to the lane since that deadline. Until we have, treat the width of the beach and the state of the sand as unconfirmed for late September 2026. We will update this paragraph after our next visit.

The southern end of the coast has recovered. Báo Quảng Nam (17 July 2023) recorded that Cửa Đại had lost about 200 metres of beach in 15 years. It described a 3.3 km defence from the river mouth to north of the Victoria hotel, mostly funded by the French development agency AFD (42 million euros). VnExpress (12 April 2025) then reported what 2.3 km of submerged breakwater (finished between 2020 and 2024) and 100,000 m³ of pumped sand had done: white sand was back at Cửa Đại and Thịnh Mỹ. Restaurant owner Nguyễn Tuấn told the paper: "Khác với cảnh tan hoang năm 2020, giờ bãi biển cát trắng mịn" ("Unlike the devastation of 2020, the beach is now fine white sand").

When is the best time to visit Hidden Beach?

Every Vietnamese source we used agrees on March to August. Báo Quảng Nam's Hà My guide (28 April 2025) and VnExpress's Cù Lao Chàm guide (updated 14 July 2026) both give March–August as the dry months with a calm sea. hoiandaytrip.com stretches that to February–August and names September to January as the rainy season, heaviest in late December and early January. The worst erosion on this coast came with the storms of October and November 2025 (Tuổi Trẻ; Nhân Dân). September is in between: the water is warm and the swell is rising. Whatever the month, go early, as every guide we checked advises. The coast faces east, so the sun rises over the sea, and the sand is emptiest in the first hours after dawn. By mid-afternoon the restaurants have filled up and the sun is behind you.

Is it safe to swim at Hidden Beach?

As far as we can establish, Hidden Beach is not a patrolled bathing area. None of the Vietnamese or English sources we used mentions a lifeguard post there. So check the conditions yourself. Where Vietnamese beaches post flags, they follow the international code (VnExpress, 1 August 2022). A single red flag means high surf, dangerous currents or both. A double red flag means the beach is closed to swimmers. Red over yellow marks a zone patrolled by lifeguards, and yellow means moderate hazard. Visitors describe the water differently from one day to the next. A July 2026 review mentions "big waves and a slightly steep slope"; a June 2026 review describes "calm, shallow water". That is normal for this coast. Don't swim in the October–December storm season, when the sea is rough enough to stop the Cù Lao Chàm boats. Don't swim alone. And if waves are breaking hard at the shoreline, stay on the sand.

Which other beaches near Hoi An are quieter than An Bang?

An Bàng and Tân Thành, to the north. An Bàng is Hội An's busiest beach. Its Google Maps listing has more than 20,000 reviews, and the fishing village behind it has become a street of restaurants and bars, a change Báo Đà Nẵng traced on 10 August 2025. Tân Thành is the stretch between An Bàng and Hidden Beach. Both were hit by erosion in October 2025, and both fall in zone 3 of the 2026 sea-defence works, so the shoreline there is still changing. Cửa Đại, to the south. This is the beach at the mouth of the Thu Bồn, where the river that runs past our hotel meets the sea. After a decade of losing sand, it has a beach again (VnExpress, 12 April 2025), and zone 1 of the 2026 works covers the 700 m north of the Victoria hotel. Boats to Cù Lao Chàm leave from the Cửa Đại pier.

Hà My, further north. Hà My is in the former Điện Dương commune, about 7 km from Hội An and 22 km from central Đà Nẵng. Báo Quảng Nam's guide (28 April 2025) lists swimming, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding and kitesurfing there, best from March to August. It is the place to go if you want more space than An Bàng.

Cù Lao Chàm, offshore. These are the islands of xã Tân Hiệp, the one Hội An commune that was not merged in 2025, because it is an island (Tuổi Trẻ, 26 June 2025). They lie 18 km from the Cửa Đại pier: 15–20 minutes by speedboat, or about an hour and a half by wooden boat. The speedboat price was 350,000₫ (a 260,000₫ fare, 70,000₫ entry and a 20,000₫ environment fee) in VnExpress's guide, updated 14 July 2026. The guide names the beaches as Bãi Ông, Bãi Chồng, Bãi Bìm, Bãi Bắc, Bãi Làng, Bãi Hương and Bãi Xếp. Go between March and August; outside those months the boats generally stop because of storms and rough seas.

Hidden Beach Hoi An: quick answers

Is Hidden Beach in Hoi An free? Yes. The beach is public, with no ticket or gate. You pay for a lounger only if you don't order anything (50,000₫ a day at Hidden Beach Restaurant, a price quoted in May 2025 and still reported by visitors in July and August 2026). You pay for parking only if you don't eat at the restaurants (5,000–10,000₫).

Is Hidden Beach Restaurant the same as Hidden Beach? No, but they are about 60 metres apart. The beach is the public sand at the end of Kiệt 62 Lạc Long Quân. Hidden Beach Restaurant is the beachfront restaurant there, open 8:00–22:00 daily, and most visitors use its loungers. A guesthouse, Hidden Beach Bungalow Sea View, is on the same lane.

Can you swim at Hidden Beach in October, November or December? We don't advise it. Those are the storm months on this coast. The severe erosion at Tân Thành and An Bàng came with the storms of October and November 2025, and the Cù Lao Chàm boats generally stop outside March–August. Swim between March and August, early in the day.

How far is Hidden Beach from Hoi An Old Town? By bicycle it is 5.5 km from the Japanese Bridge (about 24 minutes). By motorbike or car it is 6.8 km by road. We measured both with OSRM on 25 September 2026. From Nghê Prana it is 5.1 km by bicycle.

Which ward is Hidden Beach in now? Phường Hội An Tây, Đà Nẵng. Until 30 June 2025 it was in Cẩm An ward, Hội An city, Quảng Nam province. On 1 July 2025, Cẩm An, Thanh Hà, Tân An and Cẩm Hà were merged into Hội An Tây.
